    Best places to travel:

-Amsterdam: I love the canals, all the bikes, cafes, art museums, and laid back pace

    -Grandmother's back patio for breakfast

-Florence, Italy: I would go back to Florence in a heartbeat.  Art, history, gelato, rooftop patios...what is there not to like?!

On a Fall day, I'm usually: attending a daughter's soccer game, then grilling on the back porch while watching Alabama football

Quote that has stuck with you: I was saying goodbye to a dear friend who was on Hospice care.  When I asked him what was going through his head knowing his death was imminent, he replied, "I don't know when I wake up tomorrow if I will be here or someplace else.  And if I'm someplace else, I don't know what that will look like.  But if I'm here, or if I'm there, I believe my God will be with me.  And I am good with that."

Artists who have impacted me the most are:

Those country music artists I listened to growing up in my rural community. The ones that sang songs of justice and challenged the culture of oppression that can (sometimes) be encountered in small town, rural America.  They are the prophets and preachers that gave me strength and courage to join my voice with theirs as I sang along . . .

“Rev.” Johnny Cash, “Man in Black.”

“Rev.” Garth Brooks, “I’ve Got Friends in Low Places” and “We Shall Be Free.”

“Rev.” Maren Morris with “My Church” and her collaborative work with the all-female group, The Highwomen, singing “Crowded Table.”

    On a typical Saturday, I'm probably :

Trying to sleep in until 7am. (I am usually an early riser.) Hit a morning yoga class and make sure to spend some time outside doing yard work with Jody, playing on the lake, and visiting with some friends.

    My hope for Holmeswood is:

That together we can grow to further embody the deep, expansive, love which is God, and provide a safe, healing place for those who have been wounded and rejected by both religious and non-religious power structures and people.  That we can be brave enough to put actions together with the faith we profess and be the Body of Christ that brings healing and wholeness to our world.
